Operations Mapping

COMPROSE’s Operations Mapping methodology is a proven approach for solving business problems by creating process and procedure “systems” that you can manage with and train from.  A good system LINKs processes to procedures, policies, and detailed tasks so that everyone has what they need to perform their jobs the best way.

Step 7: Test and Refine

Step 7 is the most important step in the development process but one that most organizations skip. Usability testing is CRITICAL. Give sample SOPs to 1-2 users. Observe users while they perform the procedure. What questions do they ask? What problems do they have?

Modify you system (SOPs). Test again and continue to modify. The test of success and if you’re finished is VERY SIMPLE…

If someone unfamiliar with the task can use the procedure and achieve the desired outcome with minimal supervision, you’ve achieved success. If not, you have more work to do. At the end of the day, the procedure users’ performance is all that matters and what should drive all your decisions.

Step 6: Publish the Website

Step 6 is to publish your website. Generate a website EARLY so that you can test usability and get feedback before you’ve created a lot of content. Its important to do this on a small scale so that you get a solid a good foundation in place at the beginning.


Step 5: Create Content Details

 Step 5 is to complete the documents by filling in the remaining fields such as Description, Purpose, Who Performs, etc.


Step 4: Create Policies

 Step 4 is to create any Policy documents needed.


Step 3: Insert Steps and Kick-Outs

 Step 3 is the edit or insert steps and the kick-outs (cross references links) in each of the documents.


Step 2: Create Document Shells

Using your planning document (outline) Step 2 is to create the actual documents in Zavanta. “Add New Content.”  lets you create documents one at a time. “Create New Shell” lets you create multiple documents one right after another. 


Step 1: Identify Documents Needed

Step 1 is the identify what your process, procedures, tasks and polices are. You can do this for any area or process. You will create a planning document will be one large outline of all the actions needed to carry out the process.
